A/C Tune-Up
A spring tune-up catches the weak capacitor and the dirty coil before the first 90-degree day does. Cottonwood and grass clippings pack a condenser coil solid in one season (see the photo), and a choked coil is the number one reason an A/C can't keep up in July. Coil cleaned, refrigerant charge checked, electrical tested, drain cleared, and a plain-English note on how it's doing.

Ductless Mini Splits
Additions, upstairs bedrooms that roast, finished basements, garages, cottages. A ductless mini split heats and cools a room or a whole house with no ductwork, and the good ones are whisper quiet and extremely efficient.

Cooling FAQ
My A/C runs but the house isn't getting cool. What's wrong?
Usually one of three things: a dirty filter or coil restricting airflow, a low refrigerant charge from a leak, or a unit that's simply too small or worn out for the job. Check the filter first. If that's not it, send us a photo of the unit and the thermostat and we'll tell you what we think.
Can you just add refrigerant?
We can, but if it's low, it leaked, and it'll leak again. We'd rather find the leak and fix it than sell you the same pound of refrigerant every June.
Is a heat pump really worth it in Michigan?
For a lot of houses, yes, especially on propane or electric heat. On cheap natural gas the math is closer, and we'll tell you that. Dual fuel (heat pump plus your furnace) is often the sweet spot.
How long should an A/C last?
12 to 15 years is typical, longer with annual tune-ups. If yours is older than that and needs a major repair, get a replacement estimate before you decide. It's free.

Goodman covers parts for 10 years on everything we install, as long as the equipment is registered within 60 days. We do that registration for you and email you the confirmation, so you have it in writing and never have to wonder.
Unregistered equipment drops to 5 years. That's why we handle it.
Labor covered too
Parts coverage is common. Labor is the one that actually costs people money, because a covered part still means a technician, a diagnosis and a few hours. Every system we install includes a Franklin ASURE labor plan: 5 years on our entry package, 10 years on the two above it.
Ask us what the step to 10 years costs. It's usually less than one out-of-pocket repair.
